Julian Tulip's Licorice - SULK (Bloodflower Records)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/licorice/from/jettblack

SULK - A collection of twelve compositions written, arranged and performed by Julian Tulip.

a few candid REVIEWS....

"...This is dark pop with heavy emphasis on piano, violin, drums, bass and rock stylings combined with Julian Tulip's devilishly humorous lyrics that are very similar to that of David E. Williams (though Julian Tulip is by far a better vocalist than Williams). I'd highly recommend this. Licorice captures the mood just right..." - Dark Velvet Magazine

"...Never has a CD been more appropriately titled. SULK is indeed exactly what the name implies. Dark, brooding lyrics wrap themselves around pounding, pouty piano stylings as the requisite swirling techno beats pulse in the background. Utterly creepy and disturbing - Licorice hits its mark." - Anodyne Magazine

"...A stunning addition to our format. We found your disc to be somewhat of an oasis in a banal, musically devoid wasteland." - Dead Air- 88.5FM WRAS, Atlanta, GA

Ghost Parade - Dying Breed (Ghost Parade)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/ghostparade/from/jettblack

MY REVIEW: Modern Rock Mood Spins!
Ghost Parade unleash a cornucopia of interpretive lyrical talent deeply rooted in successful song elements which have been transforming the 80's and 90's sub-pop musicsceneinto the moody electro-pop trend of modern-day rock music. Dying Breed opens with "Drift", sombre reflections of love's labours lost, setting the score for reinventing one's sense-of-self amid the tumult of "Love on the Rocks" (Neil Diamond). Dying Breed (title track) takes prominence as the overall #1 song request. Each inspired "Love Song" entwines heat-sinking tendrils with invincible hooks that grip tight like the memorable pangs of remorse. Fans of popular dark rock artists such as THE CURE, PETER MURPHY, BAUHAUS, THE MISSION UK, FIELDS OF THE NEPHILIM, SISTERS OF MERCY, and WRITTEN IN ASHES will pick up the marching baton and enjoy Ghost Parade!

Review from Chain D.L.K. Magazine by: Marc "the MEMORY Man" Urselli-Schärer - http://www.chaindlk.com
"From the prolific city of Portland, Oregon, Ghost Parade offer us their second album's intense and dense goth-rock/dark-wave music. Nice deep vocals that will make you think of many peculiar singers of the genre supported by piano, acoustic guitars, electric guitars and drums, ranging from the intimacy of a ballad to the slow-paced gothic marching all the way to the raging post-punk episodes, reveal a band whose identity is still undefined and somewhat compromised by the heavy influences of the fathers of the genre (Sisters, Cure, Bauhaus, Nephilims, Mission) but who also have more to their sound than simply '80es nostalgia revival, such as influences from the modern-day dark audio-poetry of bands such as November, Opeth, Clan of Xymox, Canaan and others. The band is currently preparing their "Trinity" DVD release with live footage, interviews etc."

Written In Ashes - Written In Ashes (Sick Passion Music)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/writteninashes/from/jettblack

"The new self titled full length compact disc from long time dark wavers Written In Ashes, is the climax of the bands eight year career. This album surpasses all expectations, and is the pinnacle of WIA's evolution. Finally, all aspects of song writing and musicianship have come to together to create a flowing soundscape of voice and vision. Written In Ashes is a radical departure from WIA's past offerings, the new album is fueled by the balance of harmony and rhythm, passion and power. Some have called it "riveting", and others have said it to be "captivating", regardless, once you listen to Written In Ashes, you will agree that this will be one of the greatest underground releases of 2004."

2bucks Short - The Positionary Mission (Wondergoat Records)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/2bucksshort/from/jettblack

CD BABY proclaims this album as, "High energy, melodic punk guaranteed to get you moving. Just one listen and you'll be hooked."

Reviewer: Dimmer of PrecisionPunk.com says, "These guys are awesome!"
"With musical influences that include everything from Stevie Ray Vaughn and Miles Davis to the Descendants, 7 Seconds, Steely Dan and Iron Maiden, "The Positionary Mission" makes a statement about each member while projecting the unique sound of the band as a whole. But most surprising was the outstanding blend of musical styles and variety within the album. Songs such as "Far From Good", "Hat Trick" and "Sumbitch" provide the classic punk melodies while "Steve" adds a touch of ska flavor. Not to leave out the hardcore, "Ray" gives us a glimpse of the anger-filled punk angst hidden away within each of us. And finally, 2Bucks Short shows off their slower side with "Closing Statement". Overall, "The Positionary Mission" is a great debut album and doesn't bore you with the same guitar riffs and bass lines. Every songs adds an unique flavor, keeping the listeners locked in never getting tired. The future definetely looks good for 2bucks Short and as I mentioned before...these guys and this cd are flat out awesome."

Assisted Living - K-12 (Fruit of the Shroom Music)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/assistedliving/from/jettblack

"Assisted Living is the polished Portland, Oregon band which blends emotion, passion, and energy acting on their own accord. At best, they are a synthesis of progressive rock using strong melodic choruses, with an aggressive edge that is raw combustible fuel."
-Susie Salva

Reviewer: MellotronGirl says, "This band is gonna be huge!"
"Incredibly kinetic, powerful, w/solid vocals, strong timekeeping, and the riffs and special effects just are phenomenal. Some major label will be touting Assisted Living in no time (if that's what the band is after)...but I'll tell ya, I predict these guys will be able to quit their day jobs by the end of the year."

CD BABY says, "High powered energy rock, like no other, this record pushes the limits of creativity within the rock n roll realm; driving bass, tribal drum rhythms and swirling guitars create a solid foundation for the melodic and sometimes aggressive vocals."

TV:616 - Poison Blanket (Elemental Records)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/tv616/from/jettblack

"TV:616 side steps the old "industrial vs metal" question by claiming to be neither. Instead, like Filter, the power-chorded quartet plans its hard rock battle strategies around whatever weaponry is at their disposal - and if it means detonating gunpowder-packed drum loops like shrapnel grenades and piercing heavy metal armor with laser-hot synthesizer burns, all the better. Its simply rock for the 21st century. Get with the times."

McKinley - Goner (McKinley)
http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/mckinley03/from/jettblack

CD BABY says, "This is music for running away from home and leaving everything you own in the yard. Sweet, kind of quiet, but not at all meek. Sexy, strange little stories, a curious conversational voice and great pop songs."

Reviewer: Liz M. says, "Can't stop listening to it; may need an intervention."
"This CD is a departure from McKinley's previous recordings in that it's a bit more upbeat, but, like the others, every song stands on its own as powerful and hugely listenable -- possibly insanely addictive. It's a must-have for any indie pop afficionado, or for anyone who wants something different but slightly familiar."
