Vanguard provides (twice monthly) Community News, Arts & Entertainment, and The Usual Suspects for Vancouver, Washington, USA
Who does it better than Vanguard? No other paper in Vancouver, Washington does a better job (every issue) of covering what patrons of local arts, music, and community interaction opportunities need most!
Sun Moon And Stars Issue Now Available At More Than 175 Merchant Locations Throughout Vancouver, WA.
Vanguard brings out the pride of Vancouver, Washington comparable in many ways to the pride exhibited by neighbouring Portland, Oregon music fans via a multitude of other media options.
However, the layouts and local music artist coverage as provided by the Vanguard pay more respect to locals in the music scene than generally attributed to the same artists by any of the other newsprint options available to everyone in this NW region (USA).
The layouts are superb, featuring full-colour artwork, and back-lit gold backgrounds for every music feature submitted by Sonya Brown, whom most will recognise with more familiarity as a writer for the Electro music genre publication, SickAmongthePure.com, and as music editor and staff writer for Gothic Beauty magazine.
July 14, 2005 Sonya Brown contributes yet another fantastic music article for Vanguard.
This time, the spotlight shines upon Pillars of Nein with a brief retrospect upon the band's recent CD release party (04/10/05) at Dante's Inferno (Portland, OR). Brown continues in more detail with announcements about the band's next live gig at Dante's Inferno (08/07/05). Apparently, that live performance is scheduled for broadcasting on local Comcast Cable station: 14.
Pillars of Nein, as Brown points out, puts forth a variety of multimedia (audio/visual) features both at their official website (PillarsofNein.com) and elsewhere, including right here at MySpace.com: myspace.com/pillarsofnein
For many Vanguard readers, Brown's spotlight upon Pillars of Nein may provide an introduction also to Chelle Beck, formerly a guest vocalist on loan from Stabitha, now acknowledged as a band member of both music projects.
Stabitha, another popular music artist gigging frequently in and around Portland, Oregon, may be up for featured focus in a future issue of Vanguard. For now, readers can keep up with the latest news, music audio clips, and curious happenings of Stabitha band mates by hitting the band's page here at MySpace.com, or their official web lair located at: www.stabitha.com
Stabitha stands out also as one of the more enthusiastic proponents of the Portland Music Scene by consistently advocating attention to the webpages of PortlandMusicians.com.
If you're wondering why Stabitha might routinely direct attention to any website other than their own, then maybe you're not as familiar with the Portland, Oregon music scene as you would like? PDX local music fans tend to exhibit excess amounts of pride and support for that which supports the local music scene the most. Our local music scene provides a multitude of in-roads from online resources. PortlandMusicians.com is perhaps better than most in that it clearly supports local independent musicians and music outlets such as CDBABY.com, THE undisputed leader in the independent music retail circuit, and also a Portland-local taxpayer with an office/warehouse located just a mile south of the PDX international airport.
CDBABY itself was started as an outreach by independent music, Derek Sivers, to other independent musicians with whom he had made friendships along college music tour circuit routes. Siver's success with online retailing of his own music soon provided similar opportunities for success for other indie musicians, and today, independent musicians all over the planet turn to CDBABY.com for non-exclusive online sales consignment of their own music CD catalogues, past and present.
